This project challenged me to explore the unique spatial configurations that emerge intersecting four Poplar wood planks. Aiming to produce a functional stool, I chose to explore a configuration that seated the user at a sloped angle, challenging traditional definitions of comfort.

I am a visual storyteller fascinated by the things that capture our attention. I seek to explore the concepts that make us think, through experimentation and research.

My practice is motivated by a desire to understand the application of these concepts to create thoughtful experiences and stories.

Four Board Stool

Duration - 4 weeks

The design process began with the production of styrofoam prototypes. Working to develop my concept, I sought configurations that afforded enough space for the user to sit comfortably.

Working with a 64 x 11-inch plank required me to pay close consideration to how I divided the height of my board.

This project involved the design, and construction of a poplar wood stool. Exploring the unique traits of wood grain and wood processing
